Adventure Activity Icons

In Kai XR Learn, Adventures (lessons) combine one or more Activities together. Let's get to know each activity by their icon.

These icons are found in the Adventure Gallery, in My Adventures, and as students go through the Adventure.

Mini-Lesson

Some premade Adventures have a Mini-Lesson included in the Adventure slideshow for the teacher to use before the Adventure starts. This isn't an activity, but a helpful icon to keep an eye out for teachers. If you see this icon in the Adventure Details, there are premade lesson and slides you can use to review or teach the material before students do the Adventure.

Adventure Activities

There are seven types of activities that can be added to an Adventure:

Makerspace

In a Makerspace activity, students are taken to a 3D design studio where they can build scenes that demonstrate their understanding. For example, the Create the Solar System Adventure has a makerspace activity where student build a 3D model of the solar system in the makerspace.

Short Answer

Short Answer activities are open-ended questions for students to type an answer. The questions can range from 1-2 word answers to poems and stories.

Read

In a Read activity, students are given a reading passage, image, chart, or other visual to read and comprehend. You can find short stories, poems, charts, and more in a Read activity. Most Adventures also come with a Recap reading activity at the end where the key learnings for the Adventure are summarized for the student.

Multiple-choice Quiz

In a Quiz activity, students are given a question with multiple-choice answer options. The question and answer options may include texts or images.

Quiz activities are auto-graded with a score which teachers can view in the Adventure Report.

Vocab

Vocab activities are similar to a Quiz, where there is a question and multiple-choice answer options. Unlike a Quiz which can cover a wide range of topics, Vocab activities specifically focus on mastering vocabulary.

Virtual Field Trip

A Virtual Field Trip activity takes students on an immersive experience through one of our 100+ virtual field trips. Explore the Smithsonian or step into the shoes of a forester. Teachers and students can access the updating catalog to preview any of the field trips.

Video

The Video activity is a video that is not a 360 immersive video, or is a video that is not part of the Kai XR catalog. Teachers can use this activity to upload their own videos (via YouTube) into the lesson. See how you can add your own videos via YouTube to an Adventure.
