What is Collaboration Mode?
Collaboration Mode is a makerspace setting that allows multiple students to build together in real-time in the same makerspace scene.
Enabling Collaboration Mode in a Makerspace Activity
Let's enable Collaboration Mode for a Makerspace Activity.
When students join an Adventure with a Collaboration makerspace, they are entering your makerspace scene to build together, instead of building in their own copy.
1. Find an Adventure in the Gallery you want to use that has a Makerspace Activity and click Clone. Or you can use an Adventure you created that has a Makerspace Activity.
2. Locate your Adventure under My Adventures, and click Edit.
3. Find the Makerspace activity, and click Edit.
4. Under Collaboration Mode, click the dropdown to change from Disabled to Build Together.
5. Remember to Save Activity.
6. And to Save Adventure.
Now, your Adventure is ready to be used in Collaboration Mode.
Implementing Collaboration Mode in the Classroom
Let's prepare a Collaboration Adventure for your classroom.
Once you have selected an Adventure and decided how many groups you'll need, you'll need to prepare a copy of the Adventure for each group.
If you want to divide your class into 4 groups, you'll need 4 copies of the Adventure.
Creating Copies of Adventures for Each Group
1. Follow the steps above to select an Adventure and enable Collaboration Mode. You may want to name your first one "Group #1 - Title" to keep track of the copies.
2. Under My Adventures, find your collaboration mode-enabled Adventure. Click the stacked three dots and click Clone to make a copy.
3. Find the cloned copy, "Copy of..." under My Adventures and click Edit.
4. Rename to reflect your groups. E.g. Group #2
5. Repeat steps 2-4 until you have an Adventure for each group.
Monitoring Collaboration Makerspaces
You can view the progress of students' work like any other activities under View Report.
Collaboration Mode Checklist
You can use our Collaboration Mode Checklist document to plan out your classroom time.
After you've created your groups, note them in your Checklist doc to have on hand in the classroom.
